Microsoft Office 2011 Released for Mac users

Microsoft is now pleased to announce its new Office 2011 version for Mac. This advance version comes with many features from Office for Windows that have been missing from the older version. According to MacWorld, the company is focusing on three things with this new release: better compatibility across platforms, improved collaboration tools, and a more refined user interface. Here’s a quick tour of some of advance features integrated in the latest version.

Ribbon Interface:
The Ribbon UI is specially designed, that the Mac users will really appreciate. It includes the research of user’s experiences and most used tools grouped together for a better experience while working with your documents. The Ribbon for Microsoft Outlook has all the most common tools on the toolbar.

Collaboration Tools without a Plugin:
Office 2008 for Mac had the ability to share your documents though the plugin that was available. But now in the new version, you can share your documents with others using Microsoft’s SkyDrive.

You just need to enter your live account information, in order to save to your SkyDrive.

Outlook and Visual Basic:
PST imports (allowing you to move an Outlook installation, including all your old e-mails, from a Windows PC to a Mac) is supported by the new Outlook. Microsoft’s Information Rights Management (IRM) is also supported by it, that allows senders to specify what recipients can do with messages (print, forward, and so on). Schmucker said, the IRM support is integrated specially for Mac users in cross-platform environments. He added, “Outlook’s new database is more reliable, faster, and fully supports Time Machine and Spotlight”.
Sparklines in Excel 2011:
One of the features to find its way to Excel is Sparklines, in which you can see the data graphically within a cell.

The new version also includes handy image-editing tools, a new media browser, enormous template galleries, and several feature upgrades. Well the Mac users will be glad to enjoy the advance features of Office 2011 with significantly better cross-platform compatibility.
